CILRR – ARC

As part of the inaugural Aspiration Research Cluster grant program at UVic, Dr. Onowa McIvor assembled an interdisciplinary team to explore the creation of a Centre for Indigenous Language Revitalization Research to facilitate capacity-building resources and support for local language reclamation initiatives.

Stabilizing Indigenous Languages Symposium (SILS) 2024

The 30th annual Stabilizing Indigenous Languages Symposium (SILS) was hosted by the NEȾOLṈEW̱ Research Partnership at Sŋéqə ʔéʔləŋ (Sngequ House – UVIC) on the territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən speaking peoples. Centered around the theme Kinship, Connections & Leadership in Indigenous Language Revitalization, the symposium fostered a rich exchange of innovative ideas towards advancing language revitalization efforts.
