BC First Nations Language Education Planning Workbook
The BC First Nations Language Education Planning Workbook is a community-centered guide designed to support First Nations in British Columbia in revitalizing and sustaining their ancestral languages.
Developed with extensive input from Indigenous educators, language champions, and community members, the workbook offers practical tools and step-by-step guidance for creating effective language education plans. It emphasizes the importance of community involvement, culturally grounded teaching methods, and long-term visioning to ensure the survival and flourishing of First Nations languages for generations to come.
This project was shaped with the invaluable input and guidance of the FNESC First Nations Languages Subcommittee and the FNSA Languages Focus Group. Their members generously volunteered their time and expertise to help envision and refine this resource, driven by a shared commitment to the vitality of First Nations languages across the province. Their passion, knowledge, and dedication have been instrumental in bringing this project to life.
